Business Standard · stocks

India's market regulator Sebi has told the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) that US-based trading firm Jane Street should explain its trading strategies and conduct instead of seeking more documents. Sebi stated it has provided sufficient material, including over 10 GB of data, for Jane Street to respond to allegations of market manipulation. The regulator accused Jane Street of employing two different manipulative strategies on expiry days, potentially gaining ₹4,843 crore. Jane Street denies these allegations, claiming its trades were conventional index arbitrage, and has approached SAT for additional documents.
