EU Fails To Agree On Lifting Sanctions

European Union countries failed to reach a final agreement on Monday to remove Russian billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the bloc's sanctions list. Diplomats were set to resume talks Tuesday to try and hammer out a deal. France and Slovakia had pushed for Usmanov's removal, citing national security, while Luxembourg insisted Fridman also be delisted. More hawkish EU nations fiercely opposed easing sanctions, arguing pressure on Russia should increase.
