SEBI Recommends Removing LTCG Tax For Foreign Investors To Boost Markets
TV9 Hindi · stocks
India's market regulator SEBI has recommended the government remove the LTCG tax for foreign investors to boost equity markets. This move aims to attract foreign capital and address the underperformance of Indian stocks compared to other emerging markets. Foreign investors have sold a record $31 billion in Indian shares over the past two years. SEBI also proposed tax relief for domestic mutual fund investors, suggesting exemptions if they reinvest holdings. These recommendations come ahead of the annual budget, though the final decision rests with the government.
