Australian Man Builds House From Thousands Of Glass Bottles
Times of India · interesting
In 1967, an Australian man named Tex Moeckel constructed a unique house in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, using thousands of discarded glass bottles as building material. Nearly six decades later, this "Bottle House" still stands and now functions as a tourist attraction and a museum. The museum showcases opal-mining artefacts, vintage bottles, and other historical items, preserving the town's mining heritage. The building's walls, made of bottles set in cement and later clay, allow light to pass through, creating a distinctive visual effect.
