Denied Library Access Due To Caste, Man Builds One For His Community

TOI - Lifestyle · lifestyle

V Selvakumar, denied access to a village library due to caste bias, spearheaded the creation of a new public library in Semmadu village, west of Coimbatore. This library now serves students in the Scheduled Caste neighbourhood of Gandhi Colony. When the library was established, the community had only four graduates; this number has since grown to 30. The initiative demonstrates how community-driven efforts can overcome systemic barriers and foster educational advancement.
