Al Jazeera · world

Romania's political crisis has deepened after Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan failed to secure a parliamentary vote of confidence. Muresan, a liberal European Parliament member, received only 182 votes, falling short of the 233 required. This outcome prolongs the instability that has plagued the nation, which has been struggling with high public deficit and inflation within the European Union. The far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians largely boycotted the vote. President Nicusor Dan will nominate a new candidate to avoid snap elections.

Alliance for the Union of Romanians
