Gujarat HC Restores Non-Veg Food Ban Near Somnath Temple Hours After Single Judge Lifted It

A two-member bench of the Gujarat high court has stayed a single judge's order that had lifted the ban on non-vegetarian food sales near the Somnath temple. The division bench, led by the Chief Justice, reinstated the Collector's notification following an urgent appeal by the Gujarat government. This means the ban on preparing, storing, and selling non-vegetarian food within a 500-meter radius of the temple will continue for now. The court will hear the matter again on December 26.

गुजरात हाई कोर्ट की दो-सदस्यीय पीठ ने एक एकल न्यायाधीश के उस आदेश पर रोक लगा दी है जिसने सोमनाथ मंदिर के पास मांसाहार की बिक्री पर लगी रोक हटा दी थी। मुख्य न्यायाधीश की अगुवाई वाली खंडपीठ ने गुजरात सरकार की तत्काल अपील के बाद कलेक्टर की अधिसूचना को बहाल कर दिया। इसका मतलब है कि मंदिर के 500 मीटर के दायरे में मांसाहार तैयार करने, रखने और बेचने पर फिलहाल रोक जारी रहेगी। कोर्ट इस मामले की सुनवाई 26 दिसंबर को फिर से करेगा।
