A fierce clash erupted at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee office as supporters of outgoing state president Ajay Rai and women leader Mamta Choudhary engaged in a physical altercation. The dispute escalated into slogan shouting, pushing, and the throwing of shoes and slippers just before the new president, Aradhana Mishra 'Mona', was to take charge. Mamta Choudhary alleged that she was subjected to casteist slurs and abuse by Ajay Rai's supporters. Ajay Rai has demanded disciplinary action against those involved in creating indiscipline and tarnishing the party's image.
