CPM Wins Key Division in Kottayam Bypolls

The CPM has secured a significant victory in the Thrikkodithanam division of the Kottayam district panchayat, winning the 17th Division by a margin of 2,140 votes. This seat became vacant after a Kerala Congress member resigned to contest assembly elections. In other local body by-elections across Kottayam, Congress and CPM candidates also won seats in Meenadom and Pampady respectively. Pathanamthitta also saw wins for Kerala Congress and Congress in Kuttur and Aruvappulam grama panchayats. Several other close contests were reported in Kunnamthanam and Ranni.
