Centre Dissolves Top Telecom Decision Body

The government has dissolved the Digital Communications Commission, a key inter-departmental body formed 37 years ago. Established in 1989 as the Telecom Commission and renamed in 2018, the DCC decided on telecom policy matters and issues with significant financial implications. It played a crucial role in finalizing decisions on spectrum pricing and recommendations from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India before they went to the Cabinet.
