Mumbai's ambitious amnesty scheme to help nearly 19,000 buildings obtain crucial Occupation Certificates (OCs) has seen a dismal response, with fewer than 10 applications received in nearly two months. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) introduced the scheme on September 8, offering concessions on regularisation charges for eligible properties occupied before November 17, 2016. Despite the concessions, the financial burden of purchasing additional floor space index or development rights remains a significant deterrent for many property owners.
