Taiwan Makes Progress on Alaska LNG Deal Negotiations After Trump's Claim

Times of India · business

Taiwan announced it is making progress in negotiations to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Alaska, with plans to invest up to $4.4 billion in the project. This follows US President Donald Trump's statement that Taiwan agreed to buy 30% of the project's output. State-owned CPC Corp has shown significant progress after 18 months of talks, aiming to purchase 6 million metric tonnes of LNG annually. The investment aims to strengthen Taiwan's energy security and reduce dependence on other suppliers, while also helping narrow its trade surplus with the US.
