Southeast Asia Chokes Again On Haze, Lessons Unlearned Since 2015

DW World · world

Southeast Asia is once again suffering from severe transboundary haze, raising questions about lessons learned since the catastrophic fires of 2015. Indonesia's prolonged dry season, exacerbated by El Nino, has led to widespread forest and land fires, sending smoke across the region and impacting neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore. Over 170,000 cases of acute respiratory infection were recorded in Indonesia between August and mid-September, with many affecting young children.
