Sebi Makes Direct Mutual Fund Plans Default Option
Business Standard · stocks
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) will make direct plans the default option on fund houses' digital platforms from October 28, 2026. Investors choosing regular plans will be explicitly informed about the higher costs. This move aims to increase awareness of direct plans, which have lower expense ratios. While direct plans benefit investors by allowing their money to compound more effectively over the long term, the default change only applies to fund houses' own digital platforms, not third-party apps or bank branches.
