Birla Corp Q2 Net Profit Plummets to Rs 37 Crore Amidst Weak Cement Prices

Times of India · stocks

Birla Corporation reported a significant drop in its consolidated net profit for the second quarter, falling to Rs 37 crore from Rs 90 crore in the previous year. This decline was primarily attributed to weak cement prices and disruptions in construction activities caused by excessive rainfall in its core markets. Despite the profit dip, consolidated revenue saw a 9% increase, reaching Rs 2,441 crore. Cement sales volume grew by 7% year-on-year, though price realization saw a marginal increase.
