Rhode Island has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms, accusing the company of profiting from and enabling widespread scam advertising across its platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Attorney General Peter Neronha alleges Meta knowingly exposed users to fraud while assuring them of protection, making significant profits from these ads. This marks the first such scam-related lawsuit against Meta by a US state, following a similar case filed by California's Santa Clara County.
