Bombay HC Warns Mumbai Police on Firecracker Ban Compliance
The Hindu · india
The Bombay High Court has sternly warned Mumbai police to ensure strict compliance with the ongoing ban on firecrackers. Justices Girish Kulkarni and Dr. Neela Gokhale directed authorities to brief all officers about an October 15 order prohibiting firecracker use throughout the year, noting slow government machinery and lack of public notices. The court emphasized that police dereliction of duty, including station officers' lack of awareness and failure to enforce decibel limits, infringes upon citizens' constitutional rights. The matter will be heard again on October 26.
