IIT Bombay Student's Parents Continue Hunger Strike

The parents of IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode continued their hunger strike in Mumbai for the second day on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, demanding justice for their son. Their lawyer stated that no government representative had approached them regarding their demands. Sahil Wakode, a second-year student, was found dead in his hostel room on September 18, hours after being caught using his mobile during an exam. His parents allege caste discrimination and are demanding the arrest of Professor Suryanarayana Doolla and IIT Bombay Director Shireesh Kedare.

आईआईटी बॉम्बे के छात्र साहिल वाकोडे के माता-पिता मंगलवार, 29 सितंबर 2026 को मुंबई में अपने बेटे को न्याय दिलाने की मांग को लेकर दूसरे दिन भी भूख हड़ताल पर बैठे रहे। उनके वकील ने कहा कि उनकी मांगों को लेकर कोई भी सरकारी प्रतिनिधि उनसे मिलने नहीं आया। साहिल वाकोडे, जो दूसरे वर्ष का छात्र था, 18 सितंबर को परीक्षा के दौरान मोबाइल का इस्तेमाल करते हुए पकड़े जाने के कुछ घंटे बाद अपने हॉस्टल के कमरे में मृत पाया गया था। उसके माता-पिता जातिगत भेदभाव का आरोप लगा रहे हैं और प्रोफेसर सूर्य नारायण डोला और आईआईटी बॉम्बे के निदेशक श्रीश केडारे की गिरफ्तारी की मांग कर रहे हैं।
