Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad has instructed District Collectors to implement advance measures against El Nino-induced drought conditions, ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply and crop protection. He warned of strict action against anyone diverting or stealing water meant for public consumption, emphasizing its priority over non-drinking uses like fish ponds. The state has already recorded a significant rainfall deficit, declaring many mandals drought-affected. Collectors are tasked with assessing crop damage, providing farmer assistance, and preparing comprehensive plans for future water needs, including identifying alternative sources and repairing borewells.

आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्य सचिव जी. साई प्रसाद ने जिला कलेक्टरों को एल नीनो से प्रेरित सूखे की स्थिति के खिलाफ अग्रिम उपाय लागू करने, निर्बाध पेयजल आपूर्ति और फसल सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने का निर्देश दिया है। उन्होंने सार्वजनिक उपभोग के लिए रखे गए पानी को मछली तालाबों जैसे गैर-पेय उपयोगों पर प्राथमिकता देने पर जोर देते हुए, इसे मोड़ने या चोरी करने वाले किसी भी व्यक्ति के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की चेतावनी दी। राज्य ने पहले ही महत्वपूर्ण वर्षा की कमी दर्ज की है, कई मंडलों को सूखा प्रभावित घोषित किया है।
