Election Commissioners Disagree: What Law Says About Deadlocks

The Election Commission of India (ECI) faces scrutiny over internal disagreements among its three members regarding electoral roll decisions. According to Section 18 of the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners Act, 2023, decisions should ideally be unanimous, but can be made by majority if differences arise. However, if all three commissioners disagree and a majority decision is not possible, no decision can be made.
