Odisha Plans 87 New Cyclone Shelters

Odisha is constructing 87 additional multipurpose cyclone shelters across the state, as announced by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari. Work on these new shelters began in 2024 and is progressing at various stages. This initiative aims to bolster the state's disaster preparedness, particularly in vulnerable coastal districts. With 18 shelters already built since 2024, the total number of multipurpose cyclone and flood shelters in Odisha will reach 929. Funds have also been allocated for the repair and maintenance of existing shelters.

ओडिशा में 87 नए साइक्लोन शेल्टर बनेंगे

राजस्व और आपदा प्रबंधन मंत्री सुरेश पुजारी ने घोषणा की है कि ओडिशा पूरे राज्य में 87 अतिरिक्त बहुउद्देशीय साइक्लोन शेल्टर का निर्माण कर रहा है। इन नए शेल्टरों पर काम 2024 में शुरू हुआ और विभिन्न चरणों में प्रगति पर है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य राज्य की आपदा तैयारी को मजबूत करना है, खासकर कमजोर तटीय जिलों में। 2024 से 18 शेल्टर पहले ही बन चुके हैं, जिससे ओडिशा में बहुउद्देशीय साइक्लोन और बाढ़ शेल्टरों की कुल संख्या 929 हो जाएगी। मौजूदा शेल्टरों की मरम्मत और रखरखाव के लिए भी धन आवंटित किया गया है।
