Bombay HC: Duty-free shops subject to Indian laws

The Bombay High Court has ruled that goods sold in duty-free shops are not exempt from domestic laws. This decision impacts the Adani Group's airport sales of nicotine pouches, which the Indian government considers illegal drugs. The Adani Group had argued that shops in international departure areas fall outside India's territorial jurisdiction and thus domestic regulations. However, the court disagreed, stating that such goods are subject to the country's regulatory regime.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने कहा है कि ड्यूटी-फ्री दुकानों में बिकने वाले सामान घरेलू कानूनों से छूट प्राप्त नहीं हैं। इस फैसले से Adani Group के एयरपोर्ट पर निकोटीन पाउच की बिक्री पर असर पड़ेगा, जिसे सरकार अवैध ड्रग्स मानती है। Adani Group का कहना था कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रस्थान क्षेत्रों की दुकानें भारत के अधिकार क्षेत्र से बाहर हैं, लेकिन कोर्ट ने इसे नहीं माना। कोर्ट ने साफ किया कि ऐसे सामान देश के नियमों के अधीन हैं।
