Union Bank of India announced a significant 30% year-on-year increase in its net profit for the September quarter, reaching ₹5,537 crore. This growth was driven by a 20% rise in net interest income to ₹10,582 crore and a substantial reduction in provisions, which nearly halved to ₹701 crore. The bank also saw its total advances grow by 19% to ₹11.6 lakh crore. Net interest margins improved to 2.9% from 2.7% a year ago, with the bank aiming to surpass 3% by next fiscal year.
