Community Pressure Hindered Banganga Tank Revival Efforts, Says RPG Chairman

This statement followed the death of hundreds of fish due to religious offerings during Pitru Paksha. Civic officials clarified that RPG's plans focused on precinct painting and heritage poles, not central tank restoration. Local residents and a state minister emphasized the need for citizen cooperation and prompt removal of offerings to protect the tank's ecology and its significance as one of Mumbai's oldest water bodies.

RPG Group के चेयरमैन हर्ष गोयनका ने बताया कि स्थानीय सामुदायिक दबाव के कारण मुंबई के ऐतिहासिक बांगगंगा टैंक को पुनर्जीवित करने के प्रयासों में कोई खास प्रगति नहीं हो सकी। यह बयान पितृ पक्ष के दौरान धार्मिक चढ़ावों के कारण सैकड़ों मछलियों के मरने के बाद आया। नागरिक अधिकारियों ने स्पष्ट किया कि RPG की योजनाओं में केंद्रीय टैंक की बहाली पर नहीं, बल्कि परिसर की पेंटिंग और हेरिटेज पोल पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया था। स्थानीय निवासियों और एक राज्य मंत्री ने टैंक की पारिस्थितिकी और मुंबई के सबसे पुराने जल निकायों में से एक के रूप में इसके महत्व की रक्षा के लिए नागरिक सहयोग और चढ़ावों को तुरंत हटाने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
