IIT BHU to Conduct Urine-Based Drug Tests for New Students; Forms Committee

IIT BHU is preparing to conduct urine-based drug tests for all newly admitted students across its B.Tech, M.Tech, Integrated Dual Degree, and PhD programs. To oversee this initiative, a nine-member committee has been formed under the direction of the Union Education Ministry. This marks the first time IIT BHU has established such a committee for drug testing. The move aims to strengthen efforts against the misuse of drugs among students in higher education institutions. Student consent will be a mandatory requirement before undergoing the proposed testing process.

आई.आई.टी. बी.एच.यू. अपने बी.टेक, एम.टेक, इंटीग्रेटेड ड्यूल डिग्री और पीएचडी कार्यक्रमों में नए दाखिला लेने वाले सभी छात्रों के लिए पेशाब-आधारित ड्रग टेस्ट कराने की तैयारी कर रहा है। इस पहल की देखरेख के लिए, केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्रालय के निर्देश पर नौ सदस्यीय समिति का गठन किया गया है। आई.आई.टी. बी.एच.यू. द्वारा ड्रग टेस्टिंग के लिए ऐसी समिति की स्थापना यह पहली बार है। इस कदम का उद्देश्य उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों में छात्रों के बीच नशीली दवाओं के दुरुपयोग के खिलाफ प्रयासों को मजबूत करना है। प्रस्तावित परीक्षण प्रक्रिया से गुजरने से पहले छात्र की सहमति एक अनिवार्य आवश्यकता होगी।
