He stated that the party has suffered a significant loss and that addressing the reasons for this defeat is crucial. Shanmugam expressed willingness to cooperate with leadership initiatives and emphasized the need for party cadres to regain confidence. He also noted that while opinions may differ, the absence of vote-buying in the recent polls is a positive development, and acknowledged existing resentment among cadres.

AIADMK विधायक सी.वी. षणमुगम ने पार्टी नेतृत्व से धरपुरम और मदुरंतकम में हालिया उपचुनावों में हार के संबंध में पदाधिकारियों से सलाह लेने को कहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि पार्टी को भारी नुकसान हुआ है और इस हार के कारणों का पता लगाना बहुत ज़रूरी है। षणमुगम ने नेतृत्व की पहलों में सहयोग करने की इच्छा जताई और कहा कि पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं का आत्मविश्वास फिर से जगाना ज़रूरी है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि भले ही राय अलग-अलग हो सकती है, लेकिन हाल के चुनावों में वोट खरीदने की अनुपस्थिति एक सकारात्मक बात है, और उन्होंने कार्यकर्ताओं में मौजूदा नाराजगी को स्वीकार किया।
