Telangana Farmers Face Losses Amid Poor Monsoon, Power Utilities Struggle

The Hindu · india

El Nino conditions and erratic rainfall have severely impacted Telangana's agriculture and energy sectors this year. Farmers are facing investment losses as standing crops are damaged due to insufficient irrigation water. Power utilities are compelled to make daily spot purchases of 30 to 50 million units of energy to meet demand. Despite technically normal rainfall, its uneven distribution has harmed crops and reduced water levels in reservoirs and tanks, leading to the lowest Kharif crop cultivation since 2022.
