NDA Urges Governor to Halt FIRs Against Form-7 Objectors
Times of India · politics
The NDA has appealed to Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot to stop the registration of criminal cases against individuals filing Form-7 objections, asserting it is a statutory right with no bar on bulk submissions. A delegation, including Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, alleged the government is using police to intimidate BJP supporters. They cited Election Commission rules allowing objections but noted the ECI's 2023 manual advises against entertaining bulk applications. The NDA claims more serious offences are being invoked, bypassing election law, to create fear among those exercising their rights.
