IAF Chief Warns of Consequences from Fighter Jet Production Delays

Business Standard · india

Air Chief Marshal A P Singh expressed concern over significant delays in the domestic production of fighter jets, stating it will negatively impact the Indian Air Force. The Tejas Mk-1A program is two years behind schedule, with the first of 83 jets, contracted in 2021, yet to be delivered. Production was hampered by engine supply chain issues and weapon integration problems. Singh emphasized the need for a 'whole-of-nation' approach to expedite future programs like Tejas Mk-2 and the AMCA stealth fighter to meet the IAF's squadron strength requirements.
