Bangladesh Home Minister to Skip BIMSTEC Meeting in New Delhi

Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed will not attend the first-ever meeting of BIMSTEC home ministers in New Delhi. A senior bureaucrat will lead the delegation representing Dhaka at the event. This comes amid strained relations between India and Bangladesh. BIMSTEC is a regional grouping focused on economic and technical cooperation among countries bordering the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh assumed the BIMSTEC chairmanship in April 2025.

बांग्लादेश के गृह मंत्री, सलाहउद्दीन अहमद, नई दिल्ली में BIMSTEC गृह मंत्रियों की पहली बैठक में शामिल नहीं होंगे। एक वरिष्ठ नौकरशाह ढाका का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व करेंगे। यह भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच तनावपूर्ण संबंधों के बीच हो रहा है। BIMSTEC बंगाल की खाड़ी से सटे देशों के बीच आर्थिक और तकनीकी सहयोग पर केंद्रित एक क्षेत्रीय समूह है। बांग्लादेश ने अप्रैल 2025 में BIMSTEC की अध्यक्षता संभाली थी।
