Comedian Kunal Kamra has approached the Supreme Court to intervene in a case concerning legislative privileges and freedom of speech. A seven-judge Constitution bench will hear the matter on October 6. Kamra stated that privilege proceedings against him in the Maharashtra assembly over his 'Naya Bharat' special directly affect his fundamental rights. He argued that using legislative privilege to suppress citizens' speech undermines democracy. The issue, pending for over two decades, involves interpreting constitutional articles related to speech and privileges.

कॉमेडियन कुणाल कामरा ने विधायी विशेषाधिकारों और अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता से जुड़े एक मामले में हस्तक्षेप के लिए Supreme Court का रुख किया है। सात जजों की संविधान पीठ 6 अक्टूबर को इस मामले की सुनवाई करेगी। कामरा ने कहा कि महाराष्ट्र विधानसभा में उनके 'नया भारत' स्पेशल को लेकर उनके खिलाफ विशेषाधिकार की कार्यवाही सीधे उनके मौलिक अधिकारों को प्रभावित करती है। उन्होंने तर्क दिया कि नागरिकों के भाषण को दबाने के लिए विधायी विशेषाधिकार का उपयोग लोकतंत्र को कमजोर करता है। दो दशकों से अधिक समय से लंबित इस मुद्दे में भाषण और विशेषाधिकारों से संबंधित संवैधानिक अनुच्छेदों की व्याख्या शामिल है।
