Odisha Closes Schools As Depression Intensifies

Heavy rains lashed coastal and southern Odisha on Tuesday due to a depression over the Bay of Bengal. The government closed schools in several districts, including Malkangiri until September 24, and cancelled leaves for government employees. Authorities also restricted vehicular movement and suspended ferry services. The India Meteorological Department forecasts the depression will intensify and cross the north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur by September 24.

बंगाल की खाड़ी में बने डिप्रेशन के कारण मंगलवार को ओडिशा के तटीय और दक्षिणी इलाकों में भारी बारिश हुई। सरकार ने मलकानगिरी सहित कई जिलों में 24 सितंबर तक स्कूल बंद कर दिए हैं और सरकारी कर्मचारियों की छुट्टियां रद्द कर दी हैं। अधिकारियों ने वाहनों की आवाजाही पर भी रोक लगा दी और नौका सेवाओं को निलंबित कर दिया।
