A Hyderabad cyber fraud investigation, initiated after a man was cheated of ₹7.93 lakh in a scam involving an old ₹1 note, has uncovered a suspected mule account network. This network is linked to approximately 450 cases nationwide and involves transactions estimated between ₹60 crore and ₹70 crore. Two individuals were arrested for collecting bank accounts and SIM cards from locals and supplying them to cyber fraudsters operating from Haryana. The accused allegedly provided credentials for 60 to 70 individuals' accounts to facilitate fraudulent transactions for financial gain.
