Consumer Commission Orders Muthoot Finance To Return Gold Ornaments

A West Bengal consumer commission has ordered Muthoot Finance to return pledged gold ornaments weighing approximately 122.2 grams to a customer, Ashok Roy. Roy must pay Rs 7,34,557 within 30 days, with no further interest accruing on this amount from January 11, 2019. Roy had initially taken a loan of Rs 2.76 lakh against ornaments valued higher, but faced financial difficulties and could not pay EMIs. Muthoot Finance had issued a demand notice for auctioning the ornaments due to non-payment.

पश्चिम बंगाल के एक उपभोक्ता आयोग ने मूतूत फाइनेंस को ग्राहक अशोक रॉय को लगभग 122.2 ग्राम वजन के गिरवी रखे सोने के गहने लौटाने का आदेश दिया है। रॉय को 30 दिनों के भीतर 7,34,557 रुपये का भुगतान करना होगा, और 11 जनवरी 2019 से इस राशि पर कोई अतिरिक्त ब्याज नहीं लगेगा। रॉय ने शुरू में गहनों पर 2.76 लाख रुपये का लोन लिया था, जिनका मूल्यांकन अधिक था, लेकिन उन्हें आर्थिक तंगी का सामना करना पड़ा और वे ईएमआई का भुगतान नहीं कर सके। भुगतान न होने के कारण मूतूत फाइनेंस ने गहनों की नीलामी के लिए मांग नोटिस जारी किया था।
