A visiting Central team has lauded Andhra Pradesh's Mana Mitra WhatsApp Governance initiative, suggesting it could serve as a model for other states in disaster response. The team, assessing damage from Cyclone Arnab, was briefed on how timely alerts and the Mana Mitra platform helped minimise loss of life. Officials reported that 34,716 people were evacuated to 2,199 shelters across 20 districts. The Central team members expressed their intention to recommend similar facilities to the Union government and assured the state of adequate central assistance.
