Election Commission Reallocates Work Amidst ECINet Functioning Concerns

The Election Commission has reallocated responsibilities among its senior officials, including deputy election commissioners and directors-general. Seema Khanna, head of the IT division managing ECINet, will now report through senior DEC Pawan Kumar Sharma. This change follows earlier objections by Election Commissioners S S Sandhu and Vivek Joshi regarding the alleged centralization of ECINet access. The commission stated in a Supreme Court affidavit that previous work redistribution orders were not implemented due to these objections. The new reallocation aims to streamline oversight of IT and grievance divisions.
