Bengal Panel May Rename Roads Named After Communists

A 10-member committee in West Bengal is examining proposals to rename roads, bridges, and public places. Prominent Kolkata thoroughfares named after Vladimir Lenin, Karl Marx, and Ho Chi Minh are under consideration for renaming. The panel, headed by Kartik Maharaj, will assess the relevance of these figures in the context of Indian and Bengali heritage. Recommendations will be sent to the state Assembly.
