Former Pakistan PM Zulfikar Ali Bhutto claimed Indian citizenship in Indian courts for eleven years while living in Pakistan. This was revealed through General Ayub Khan's diary and journalist Vivek Shukla's book. Bhutto's motive was to acquire properties his parents left in India during the partition. India's then Rehabilitation Minister, Mahavir Tyagi, confirmed Bhutto's Bombay residency and properties, which were declared enemy property. Bhutto challenged this decision up to the Supreme Court, continuing his legal battle from Pakistan.

पाकिस्तान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री ज़ुल्फ़िकार अली भुट्टो ने पाकिस्तान में रहते हुए ग्यारह साल तक भारतीय अदालतों में भारतीय नागरिकता का दावा किया था। यह बात जनरल अयूब ख़ान की डायरी और पत्रकार विवेक शुक्ला की किताब से सामने आई है। भुट्टो का मकसद बंटवारे के दौरान अपने माता-पिता की भारत में छोड़ी गई संपत्ति हासिल करना था। भारत के तत्कालीन पुनर्वास मंत्री महावीर त्यागी ने भुट्टो के मुंबई निवास और संपत्तियों की पुष्टि की थी, जिन्हें दुश्मन संपत्ति घोषित किया गया था। भुट्टो ने पाकिस्तान से ही इस फैसले को सुप्रीम कोर्ट तक चुनौती दी थी।
