एक 650 साल पुरानी शाही मस्जिद के पास सड़क चौड़ी करने को लेकर उज्जैन में विवाद खड़ा हो गया। सड़क चौड़ीकरण सिंहस्थ 2028 धार्मिक आयोजन की तैयारियों का हिस्सा है। मस्जिद का एक हिस्सा प्रस्तावित 15 मीटर सड़क विस्तार योजना के दायरे में आता है। जहाँ प्रशासन सामुदायिक सहयोग का दावा कर रहा है, वहीं झड़पें और पथराव हुआ, जिसके लिए पुलिस को आंसू गैस के साथ हस्तक्षेप करना पड़ा। मस्जिद समिति ने जिला प्रशासन के साथ चर्चा के बाद प्रभावित हिस्से को स्वेच्छा से हटाने पर सहमति जताई है, और लोगों से अफवाहों से बचने और शांति बनाए रखने की अपील की है।
