BBC World · world

Australian authorities are investigating the connections of a Flydubai co-pilot to the country following an incident on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain with a crash axe, but passengers managed to regain control of the aircraft. Sources indicate the co-pilot studied in Australia on a student visa between 2015 and 2017, with the visa later cancelled in 2019. Counter-terrorism officials are examining whether radicalisation occurred during his time in Australia. The flight was safely diverted to Saudi Arabia.
