Union ministers and BJP leaders targeted the opposition party and Gandhi over the performance, calling it "cheap political theatre" and "desperation." The Congress defended the programme, stating that every mother deserves respect and questioning why similar concerns were not raised when mothers of their leaders were allegedly insulted.
