Power Purchases Consume 60% of KSEB's Total Expenditure, Minister Informs Assembly

Kerala Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph stated in the assembly that power purchases account for approximately 60% of the KSEB total expenditure. To mitigate procurement costs, KSEB is proactively assessing electricity demand and market availability. The state government has absorbed significant portions of KSEB's losses for 2022-23 and 2024-25 under a central borrowing scheme. KSEB is also pursuing outstanding dues and administrative cost reductions. The board is developing its next five-year distribution plan, acknowledging limited growth in domestic power generation over the past decade.

केरल के बिजली मंत्री सन्नी जोसेफ ने विधानसभा में बताया कि KSEB के कुल खर्च का लगभग 60% बिजली खरीद पर होता है। खरीद लागत कम करने के लिए, KSEB बिजली की मांग और बाज़ार में उपलब्धता का लगातार आकलन कर रहा है। राज्य सरकार ने केंद्रीय उधार योजना के तहत 2022-23 और 2024-25 के KSEB के बड़े नुकसान को वहन किया है। KSEB बकाया राशि की वसूली और प्रशासनिक लागत में कमी लाने के लिए भी काम कर रहा है। बोर्ड अपनी अगली पांच साल की वितरण योजना बना रहा है, यह मानते हुए कि पिछले दशक में घरेलू बिजली उत्पादन में वृद्धि सीमित रही है।
