Journalists Face Harassment During CJP Protest in Delhi

Several journalists reported mistreatment during a protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP leader Saurav Das alleged the government is waging war on journalists, questioning if reporting is now a crime. Journalists were stopped, manhandled, and had their phones confiscated despite showing press IDs. The Press Club of India, along with other journalist unions, expressed concern over police targeting reporters. Digital media organizations also condemned the actions, calling them an attempt to intimidate the press and attack freedom of speech.

दिल्ली में मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञान प्रकाश कुमार के इस्तीफे की मांग को लेकर हुए विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान कई पत्रकारों ने दुर्व्यवहार की सूचना दी। CJP नेता सौरभ दास ने आरोप लगाया कि सरकार पत्रकारों के खिलाफ युद्ध छेड़ रही है, यह सवाल करते हुए कि क्या रिपोर्टिंग अब एक अपराध है। प्रेस आईडी दिखाने के बावजूद पत्रकारों को रोका गया, धक्का-मुक्की की गई और उनके फोन जब्त कर लिए गए। प्रेस क्लब ऑफ इंडिया ने अन्य पत्रकार यूनियनों के साथ मिलकर पुलिस द्वारा पत्रकारों को निशाना बनाए जाने पर चिंता व्यक्त की। डिजिटल मीडिया संगठनों ने भी इन कार्रवाइयों की निंदा की, इसे प्रेस को डराने और अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता पर हमला करने का प्रयास बताया।
