Kochi Buses Ignore HC Lane Rules, Race Recklessly

Private buses in Kochi are flouting High Court directives to stay in the extreme left lane and avoid overtaking. A recent journey revealed buses frequently switching lanes, speeding, and narrowly missing pedestrians and other vehicles. The court had ordered police to enforce lane discipline and ban horns in 2022, but these rules are largely ignored. Many conductors also appear to be operating without uniforms, indicating a broader lack of adherence to regulations. This disregard for safety rules puts passengers and road users at significant risk.
