Aaj Tak · environment

Flash floods in Bhutan's Punakha district have caused significant damage to a solar irrigation system in Dochuka-Jomlingthang-Ritsa Chiwog, rendering it inoperable. The system, installed this year to aid local farmers, is now shut down pending a full assessment of the damage. Additionally, heavy debris washed downstream by the floods has blocked a section of the Punakha-Gasa highway in the Jomlingthang area, disrupting transportation and causing inconvenience to residents. The floods also led to the evacuation of approximately 10,000 people in India's West Bengal as a precautionary measure.
