Meta is trialling its crowdsourced "Community Notes" system across 16 Latin American countries, shifting away from professional fact-checking. The tech giant will fully roll out the system only after ensuring its effectiveness. However, critics express concerns that crowdsourced checks might be too slow to combat the rapid spread of misinformation, manipulated images, and AI-generated content, potentially allowing false claims to reach millions before being verified.
