Astronomers Discover Potential New Dwarf Planet Beyond Pluto
Hindustan Times · science
Astronomers have identified a massive object, 2026 ED138, in the outer Solar System that could be the sixth recognized dwarf planet. Discovered using the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile, the object is estimated to be between 600 and 1,500 kilometers across. Initially spotted on October 13, evidence of its existence dates back to archival images from February 2016. If confirmed, it would join Pluto and other celestial bodies in the dwarf planet category, potentially transforming our understanding of the Solar System's formation.
