Mysterious Signal Hints at Dark Matter Discovery

Scientists analyzing data from the LUX-ZEPLIN experiment have detected a mysterious signal deep underground that could be a clue to dark matter. This single particle interaction is difficult to explain by known background signals from ordinary matter. While not yet a confirmed discovery, it is the strongest hint LZ has reported so far. The experiment uses 10 tonnes of liquid xenon nearly a mile underground to search for hypothetical weakly interacting massive particles.
