The incident occurred when the man, Prabhulal Gupta, was spitting gutkha from his third-floor balcony. Saliva, containing moisture and salts, can be conductive, and experts suggest a continuous stream could create a path for electricity. Residents expressed anger, alleging the electricity company ignored complaints about wires passing dangerously close to homes. They had repeatedly sought the line's removal, but no action was taken.
