और Chitkara University में हंगामे के बाद, पंजाब पुलिस ने लोगों से सोशल मीडिया पर बिना जाँची-परखी खबरें फैलाने से बचने को कहा है। उन्होंने शांति और सद्भाव बनाए रखने के लिए जानकारी साझा करने से पहले उसे वेरिफाई करने पर ज़ोर दिया। एक छात्रा के रेप की अफवाह के बाद तोड़फोड़ और आगजनी होने पर LPU ने दस दिनों के लिए क्लासें सस्पेंड कर दीं और एग्ज़ाम कैंसिल कर दिए। यूनिवर्सिटी कैंपस में तनाव का माहौल था, पुलिस ने फ्लैग मार्च निकाला और प्रभावित इलाकों में इंटरनेट सेवाएं बंद कर दी गईं। अधिकारियों का अनुमान है कि ₹20 करोड़ से ज़्यादा की संपत्ति का नुकसान हुआ है।
